I'm behind

I apologize deeply for holding out on yall for such a long time. I have about 3 or 4 posts in the works and they are good and filled with LOTS of awesome things; but you will have to wait. Please bare with me. Life is hectic but awesome and I can't wait to share.

Until then I will leave you with some randomness [things of me, things I love, & things of life].

Last week I discovered little Layla Grace and her story.

This beautiful little 2 year old girl is battling stage 4, high risk Neuroblastoma Cancer. Doctors have given her about 2 weeks and he parents are clinging to her every breath. She has already touched the lives of thousands. Her story is absolutely heart breaking, but I encourage you to take a minute out of your day and learn more about Layla Grace to help raise awareness of this rare cancer. Layla and her family need our prayers now more than ever!

Things of me:

1. It's March [my birthday month]! Celebrate Pisces!
2. I'm a Dreamer. I dream so much that I have to force myself to live in present time, otherwise, I would live 2 years in the future at all times.
3. I'm a planner. I love to have a direction and constantly strive for it.
4. I feel deeply.
5. I need the sun in my life. One day I will only drive to Winter. Not live in it.

Current favorite album to work to: Twilight and New Moon, even if you are not a fan the music is incredible!

Huge Congratulations to Ryan Dungey for taking 1st in Atlanta putting him in a 20 point lead for the Supercross title!

This past weekend I fell in love with Proenza Schouler. And this outfit!

Most recent crush:
This GORGEOUS, limited edition, Buddy Carr Longboard

The ReDesign = Breath Taking.

This entire post is dedicated to Racer X Illustrated.

Where to start...

Racer X in my book is the best Motocross/Supercross publication out there. Transworld does a great job but you can't beat Racer X. They know their stuff.

I've been loyal to Racer X for several years now [add: Barnes and Noble doesn't carry Racer X, at least not in Franklin, therefore, I do not shop there. I shop at Borders] Magazine subscriptions is one of those things I have a hard time spending the money on for myself. This Christmas I finally remembered to ask for a subscription (Thank you Nanny & Papa!)

And what a great time to start.. January 2010 featured the first month of their new re-design, and OMG if you haven't seen it yet then you are missing out!

January Issue. Favorite [gorgeous] spread below.

I didn't realize how uninspired I had been until I opened the January issue of Racer X and took in every word in all it's glory. No lie it was magical.

Every time I open the magazine I feel like a giddy teenager who's crushing hard over the cute, long-haired blonde that sits beside them in Math class. I get excited just thinking about it and no I'm not crazy. It's just the epitome of what I love most and they express it beautifully. Must I add that the new "trends" of motocross advertising is absolutely speaking my language!

Yamaha's New Campain:
"SO FORWARD-THINKING EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMS BACKWARDS" is so brilliant! I love it... Even the geese in the picture are flying backwards..ah! If you haven't seen it yet it's on page 53 of the March Issue. or you can Download it here!

ALL of the Typography in the entire publication is beyond gorgeous and everything I love about typography is spoken gracefully!
David Bailey's article in the January Issue is awesome. I couldn't agree with that he says more. I wish I could find it for you but you should definitely seek it out! Worth every minute of your time.

February Issue was just as satisfying. LOVED the Article on Brian Deegan & the photography. :)

The photography in every issue moving. Check out Simon Cudby's Photo of A Day in the Dirt 2009 on
pgs. 30&31 of the March Issue.

This one is very similar!
It's hard to choose a favorite spread but If I have to pick just one it's this one of Matt Rebeaud.

Can't get enough of it!

O.K. I'm not going to reveal any more beauty than you can handle at once..but hurry up and go buy yourself an issue or better yet a subscription you won't regret it I promise! (p.s. they aren't paying me to say this. I love it that much.)

Back to why I love Racer X so much...These are my most favorites and why I am loyal.

1. I know every time I open to the first spread of the issue there's going to be a beautifully designed 2 page ad for Fox.
2. Following the Fox spread there is going to be gorgeous yet simple 2 page ad for DC.
3. The "Pit Pass" section is always fun.
4. The advertising is beautiful. and for me to lust after advertising says A LOT
5. They put the mailing address on the front cover to where you can remove it and keep the authenticity and integrity of the magazine just as if it came straight off the news stand! (It's the small things that make all the difference.)
6. My most favorite part of the entire publication...it's too good to flip to first you must save it for the end because it's so rewarding..
The Tribute Page (very last page besides a couple of ads) Inside Motocross.

I cannot put to words how much I love this page. It makes my day. Which brings me to concluding on my most favorite Tribute Page of all time. It brings chills to my body and moves me to tears..

THE ONE
In what many consider to be the most dominant display in the history of the race, David Bailey and Team USA wingmen Rick Johnson and Johnny O'Mara ran off from the rest of the world at the 1986 Motocross des Nations in Maggiora, Italy. Working for Cycle News that day, Tom Mueller snapped this photo of Bailey all by himself out front. Mueller recently told Cycle News that he shot the photo with a wide-angle lens because he hoped to capture the spirit of the race and its massive crowd. This would mark the Bailey's fifth and final winning performance at the des Nations, as a practice accident just a few months later ended his motocross career. If one photo can sum up Bailey's contribution to Team USA, this is it.
I can't recall which issue this is from but It's new home is hanging from my inspiration board behind my desk as a reminder of where hard work and passion can take you.
This is what it's all about. Thank you David Bailey for being such a huge inspiration and helping shape motocross to be what it is today. You are a legend and very high in my book! Thank you Tom Mueller for capturing the essence of the race. Your expectations for this photo were surpassed.

Thank you Racer X for such a great publication. Digital is great but there's nothing like holding the finished piece in your hand!!

Lust List.

I don't know why it's took me so long to share this with you but I can't stand it any longer!

First, I must show you the fabulous items that were taken off my wish this Christmas! :)

Unveil the ever gorgeous...

Nixon Watch, The Iris

I searched all over London and Paris for this watch this past summer but couldn't find it. Thank you to my dearest parents for getting it for me for Christmas! :) (disregard photo quality I took it on my iPhone) You can also see it here Note: Nixon's Branding blows me away and be sure to check out their "Vitals" while you're there!
Second..I've been wanting a Vintage Beach Cruiser for over a year and I never saw it coming...

Thank you to my awesome boyfriend Kyle! It's gorgeous and I love it!
Lastly, the amazing Vintage Wooden Printer's Blocks

I've screen shopped on ebay for these for forever! Thank you Nanny & Papa! <3
and I used them for the 1st time on Caitlin's 21st Birthday present!! I love them!

Last note on Christmas then I'm on to the new "Lust List."

As you've probably already figured out I am very brand loyal. Lucky for me Kyle is extremely brand loyal as well and we agree on brands. I did talk him into buying the gorgeous Metal Mulisha Etnies Shoes back during the Fall but he missed his DC's terribly so my parents got him a pair for Christmas.

O.K. back to the main point. I bought him a pair of Smith Optics (Note: We are Oakley loyalists but
Smith Optics sponsors Travis Pastrana so we could branch off for that reason just once!)

Unfortunately Kyle's hair was longer than it was when he first found "the pair" and they just weren't "wowing" us anymore; but the wrapping was a success! After searching since Christmas we FINALLY found "the ones" this past weekend.

I present to you the beautiful Travis Pastrana Signature Smith Optics!

and they look even better on!

FINALLY!!

The current "LUST LIST" ;)

1. CHAINMAIL (white) by Smith Optics
These beauties were found during this blog post and I can't even describe to you how stoked I am! No lie I have been searching [really hoping Oakley would come out with a pair] for white prescription frames for I know at least 2.5 years now! I currently have the Oakley Coto 4.0 in brown chrome and I love them but I really need to wear my glasses 24/7 and white would much better suit my style/personality/& wardrobe!

I had no clue Smith Optics has prescription eyewear and they have a lot! I highly recommend you check them out because they are killer! :)

2. The Nixon Headphones

I never cared much about headphones nor have I ever understood why someone would spend $120 on a pair of obnoxiously huge (yet amazingly awesome) headphones. After I met NIXON, I totally get it.

3. The Fox Sunglasses (Note: Oakley manufactures Fox sunglasses so they are 200% OK)

The Heartless
or The Aliator (I can't decide!)

I used to have the Duncan  and absolutely LOVED them. Unfortunately they had a fatal accident and were broken beyond the pair. White Fox sunglasses are definitely the way
to go!
4. The Donika by Ethica
These are too perfect! I can justify paying $15 for 1 pair because I totally support Ethika but not $15 for shipping. Dang you shipping!

I have BIG plans for this dress and it is absolutely PERFECT! However, I can't share them with you now because I would just sound like a crazy person but I need this dress and this dress needs me more than you know! ;)

My apologies I am completely incapable of writing a short post but I get so excited that I must share! ;)

On that note while I'm at it I must add that 2 AWESOME things got taken off the list recently too!
1. Nuclear Cowboyz Tickets in Birmingham March 6th
(Happy Early Birthday to Me & Kyle!) I'm so incredibly stoked!
2. 4 tickets to the San Diego Supercross [insert shrill under-the-breath scream & uber excited face] Happy California trip ending to Me, Mom, Granny, & Lloyd! Plus, thanks to Feld Motor Sports we got 2 for the price of 1 and 4 free pit passes!!
Omg I almost forgot a find earlier today!!

Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe Skateboard with Rob Dyrdek on the back = Epic!

That's all for now! This will probably turn into a weekly post. :)

Awake all day.

Are you ever so anxious to get something completed that you decide to willingly sacrifice a night of sleep to get it all done?

I'm there.

Unfortunately, I have Speech homework that I don't want to do because all I want to do right now is code my website! Therefore, I am blogging, then working on my website, then I'll get around to Speech sometime before 11:00 a.m. :) (Side note: Caitlin, Kayla, and Myself are doing homework at our fabulous friend Tiffany's new apt. and she's totally not here and babysitting)

Back to my website. It's been a roller coaster, but I am close to victory and I absolutely cannot wait!
1. Because it will be a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders
2. As soon as it's live I can apply for 'THE" internship! :)

On to what's been going on lately. (Warning: this post has the potential to be very long)

I've been going non stop since school let out for Christmas break.
1. I completed my portfolio design..finally found a printer. An kudos to him for being so awesome and putting up with my insane complicated perfectionizmness. All proofs have been approved, custom case is being made and all 10 portfolios, resumes, & business cards will be in my hand in all their glory by Feb. 1st. Just in time to...
2. Board my plane to California for 6 days of West Coast sunshine! It's still surreal to me that it's only 12 days away! If you know my story already then you know I've waited and planned for this moment for a very long time now.
Bryan Elliott , founder of SoCal Action Sports Network, has given me the amazing opportunity to attend ASR Tradeshow (which I've been plotting to go to for at least 3 years now) in San Diego Feb. 3-4! The crazy thing is I would have never discovered SoCal Action Sports Network if it wasn't for my good twitter friend OakleyOC! (Thanks Reggie!) And this trip would have never become reality if it wasn't for my wonderful Grandparents and my Mom & Dad who 110% support me in all of my dreams.
 3. While there I'm going to see as much as possible but I've still got "business to do." I hope to meet with a few companies, including FOX to present my portfolio! Wish me luck. :)
4. Along side of all of this since August I have been doing freelance for a brand new company hitting the motocross scene called STORM! It's been a great opportunity and I'm stoked to be a part of something so innovative that I believe is going to be around for a while! I've been able to create a full brand identity for STORM. Be sure to check out their site.. it's still in the baby stages but by the end it will be a full e-commerce site with sprockets, lifestyle t-shirts, bike graphics kits, and more!

O.K. I'll keep it at that for now but there's much more.. If you gotten this far thanks for sticking with me! Yall are awesome and thank you to everyone for you're encouragement and support!

MUST  see all the way to the end. You won't regret it... I promise!

11:11

I love how my boyfriend texts me to remind me its 11:11. Since I was a kid I have made a wish every time I noticed it was 11:11..

It's one of those things you know once you've grown up isn't going to come true just because you wished for it at 11:11...Once you've grown up you've figured out the steps to make that wish come true. Wishing for it every night...The same wish over and over..Gives you satisfaction and it's like magic in your head in hopes that one day it will come true.

I've never told my wish. Remember you can never tell because it won't come true! This in grown up world doesn't matter..but this I keep in little kid world because I wouldn't dare take the chance on jeopardizing it coming true. I can't be exact how long I've been wishing this same wish but I do know it's been at least 3 or 4 years. :)

Each day brings 2 11:11 giving everyone of us to wish for the world if we desire.

Go lovelies and make wishes! Just remember you can stay in dreamland as long as you find a way on earth to make it there ;)

It's Finals

It's finals.

I'm stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted, and sick.

The biggest thing I am conquering mentally right now is that fact that I have 16 days to design the best and most perfect portfolio I can dream up and send it to print. This is the most important thing I will do as a student and that's going to launch my career and get me to where I want to be. All of the planning and patience I've practiced and prepared for has now turned into action. And everything needs to happen at once.

To be honest with you.. I'm a little scared. Everything has been kept in this safe place in my head and my heart for so long and now it's time to expose myself. Don't get me wrong.. I'm excited!! But it's crazy to think it's all finally here and everything is happening so fast.

So many great things have been happening over the past few months and I am so thankful and blown away! I can't wait to share them with you! :)

Until I can spill everything that's been going on during this quiet period, I'll share with you the things that's helping me make it through, and I hope you find inspiration in them as well! Enjoy.

Recent blog discoveries :)
p.s. I LOVE wedding blogs. and I'm not engaged.

and lastly a very important reminder from a great friend of mineLauren

Remember not to want something so bad that you hold on to it too tight and let it slip through your fingers.
